2024 Northwest Territories #1

This blog is about our trip, by truck and travel trailer from Kamloops, B.C. through northern Alberta to the Northwest Territories, up the Alaska Highway to the Yukon, and hopefully to the Arctic Ocean at Tuktoyaktuk.

We left Kamloops at high noon, Sunday, July 7. (Happy Birthday Kayl, Nana & Papa are off to the north). The trailer is loaded, and I mean loaded! So is the box of the truck, and the back seat is folded up to make room for our golf clubs. Hidey Ho, off we go.

The route is highlighted in pink.

We arrived in Valemont to a balmy 32 degrees at 4:30. It was on with the aircon lickety split. Just before we left, our friend Mike, who was visiting his Mom next door, showed us the Kokanee fish that he had caught that morning. Then he gave us 2 for supper tonight. So we are going to throw them on the Barbie!

And now we are chillaxing. Even though it was only a four-hour drive, it’s been an exhausting day. The first day is always the hardest with establishing a routine, organizing, and ironing out the bugs. Tomorrow, we’re off to Hinton. We’ll visit & spend the night with my niece and family, and my older sister Ginnie and her husband.
